Kristina Sinigerova

/Post graduate program “History and contemporary Development of the countries from Eastern Asia”, Sofia University “ St. Kliment Ohridski ”/

Abstract

After the war Japan is not the same anymore. The most of the Land of the Rising Sun is in ruins and American forces are part of the new order. Japanese women are “liberated” by their occupiers, which essentially means, that they are granted rights equivalent to those women in Western societies.Something that is too far from the traditions before the war.  The reality, however, is that neither the abrupt move into industrial and technological work, nor the imposition of new cultural standards foster any true social change in equality for  the women in Japan. INDIAN TRACES IN KOREAN BUDDHISM

Prof. Dr. Habil. Alexander Fedotoff

/Korean Studies Department, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski/

As it is well-known, Korea has played an important role in the cultural and religious history of East Asia, being a real bridge for the transmission of Chinese civilization to Japan. On the other hand, Korean Buddhism and Confucianism have played significant part in the development of Korean culture and have made unique contributions to the growth of each of these religious traditions generally. Although much is made of Japanese Zen Buddhism in courses which deal with the history of world religions, Korean Seon Buddhism not only was established earlier than the Japanese form of meditative Buddhism, but it has been the predominant form of Korean monastic Buddhism since the tenth century.
